Consider this page your cyberspace basecamp for cool paddling info. Have fun surfing away on these unique paddling-related sites! http://gsgal.smugmug.com/gallery/3934030#228424359 Every year, on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, a group of us crazies paddle to Wildhorse Island, our boats laden with yummy leftover turkey day goodies, have a feast and then go for a hike to spot some wildlife and burn off some calories. This year we were fortunate to have local photo wiz Sylvia Owen join us. Sylvia does a great job capturing the 'essence' of each paddle she goes on - the people, the scenery, the paddle in general, etc. If you're a Polar Bear Plunger, or one of the paddlers that have witnessed this wild event from their cockpits, you'll especially enjoy this album, also created by Sylvia Owen. These pix were from last year's plunge. See you on New Year's Day in 2008 at the Raven or on the H20? Think of this link as a myspace or facebook social network, but totally dedicated to the worldwide paddling community. On www.playak.net, you can fully express yourself: publish your own photos, videos and stories, create your own pages - you can even invite more friends and create your own groups, e.g. regional or special interest groups - it's all up to your needs and imagination. Articles, events, photo galleries—go see for yourself. http://www.paddling.net/newsletter.html This newsletter is full of good stuff. Great articles, tips and tricks. While you're surfing, check this one out as well: http://jessecoombs.com/good_times/ http://worldkayak.com/index.cfm WorldKayak.com was developed by Eric Jackson and continues to be a valuable tool for whitewater boaters. According to boatertalk's homepage, their sole purpose is to provide a place for whitewater boaters to get what they are looking for. Having recently merged with BoaterTalk (see above) PaddlingLife is one cool E-Zine you should be reading—that is when you're not paddling! Great stuff. http://www.rapidmedia.com/external/read_adventure_kayak_back_issues.php Rapid Media publishes three excellent paddling-related magazines: Rapid, Adventure Kayak, and Family Camping and Canoeroots. Evey single one of their issues is posted on their website just like it is viewed in print. No other magazine offers this service. Happy reading. This is another great online mag. This site reviews movies, (over 130,000!) and can probably make your next journey to rent movies less frustrating and more productive. The "Tomato Picker" is especially helpful in narrowing down older films through genre, decade and rating.
