Terms
& Policies for our Rental Equipment
Reservations:
If you want a particular boat we recommend you reserve it. We do have
a wide selection of boats to rent so you could also take your chances
with our first-come-first-serve policy. Reservations can be made over
the phone with a Visa or Mastercard, or by mail with a check, or in person
at Silver Moon Kayak Company. Half down will reserve your boat. Occasionally
we may have to substitute a boat you reserved based on availability - reservations can only be made a maximum of two weeks in advance.
Deposits
& Cancellations:
If you do make a reservation and need to cancel we will refund 100% of
your deposit if you call and cancel a full day in advance (24 hours) of
your scheduled departure time. If you cancel less than 24 hours 50% of
your deposit is non-refundable. You must call to cancel. If you rent boats
for multiple, consecutive days and decide to return them early we will
issue you a partial credit for future rentals. Sorry, we do not issue
refunds for equipment returned early.
Pick
Up & Return Times:
Pick up times for Half Day rentals are 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Return times
for Half Day rentals are 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively. Full Day Rentals are for a 24 hour period. Equipment is due 24 hours from the time you pull out of our driveway. Allow at least 30-45 minutes for rental
transactions.
Payment:
Full payment is due before the equipment leaves the premises. We'll need
to see a driver's license and we also require a Visa or Mastercard # as
a security/damage deposit. The damage deposit held on your credit card
account will not be processed if the equipment is returned on time and
in the same condition as when it was rented. Renters are responsible for
full replacement value of any equipment lost, damaged or stolen. A late
fee of $10 per hour will be assessed on late returns.
Purchase:
If you have rented a kayak and are considering purchasing one, please
keep in mind that we will deduct the rental fee from the
purchase price of the kayak you rented. Maximum one day rental to be deducted and purchase must be made within 30 days of rental date.
Transport:
We supply foam blocks and straps with our boat rentals. Recreational kayaks
and whitewater kayaks can generally be transported on nearly any type
of vehicle, however we do require a quality roof rack system to transport
the touring and expedition kayaks with a minimum spacing of 38" between
bars (45" for doubles) to protect the longer hulls. We reserve the
right to deny rentals if we feel your roof rack system is inadequate to
safely transport the boats.
Solo
Paddling:
We
discourage paddling alone and will rent to solo paddlers at our discretion.
You must be an experienced paddler and have capsize and re-entry experience
for starters. We absolutely will not rent whitewater kayaks to solo paddlers.
Children:
Children under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied & supervised by a parent
or legal guardian at all times while in the watercraft.
We
reserve the right to deny rentals due to water levels, weather conditions
or other reasons.
All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to trip start.
